For Higher Education Institutions and the Study Programs they Offer
ASCAL is the institution in the field of higher education in the Republic of Albania that aims at ensuring the quality of academic institutions and programs. One of the ways of achieving this goal is through the external evaluation of higher education institutions and programs operation in Albania.
ASCAL relies on the expertise of external evaluation experts who are individuals of high academic and professional integrity in their fields. Tasks of experts include, among other things, assessing the self-evaluation reports of institutions and all the necessary documentation, visiting higher education institutions in person, writing the external evaluation report, and performing the overall assessment of the institution or the program. Being an expert in an external evaluation process is a rewarding experience: it enables the exchange of experience among peers on the quality of higher education, enriches professional experiences, and most importantly, maybe a concrete way of contributing to the improvement of quality in higher education in Albania.
Are invited to apply also the experts who are currently part of the list of external evaluation experts within the framework of institutional accreditations and study programs.
Essential requirements:
- To possess at least the scientific degree “Doctor”, or “PhD” acquired outside Albania.
- To have at least 5 years of academic experience, and to be employed as a full-time academic staff in a higher education institution or research-scientific institute.
- To have a series of high-quality studies published in quality scientific journals with high impact in his/her field of specialization.
- To have teaching experience and participated in (or directed) the design of new study programs and/or teaching curricula in her/his field of study.
- To have academic knowledge of the English language and be able to write academic materials in English.
Desirable requirements:
- Experience in quality assurance in higher education institutions where s/he has been engaged.
- Knowledge of evaluation processes within institutional accreditation as well as study programs in Albania and/or abroad.
- Experience in the governing bodies of higher education institutions.
- Knowledge of the labor market and job prospects in the relevant field/discipline.
Preference will be given to candidates with international experience in teaching and quality scientific research and experience in the administration of universities/faculties, these acquired through academic qualifications outside Albania.
